EPA’s Lead Renovation Repair and Painting Rule is now in effect.

Fines for violation of this rule may be as high as $37,500 per day.

If you do work in housing built before 1978, you must review the EPA’s Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule to determine if it applies to your jobs.

The rule requires firms to apply for certification with the EPA, follow specific lead-safe work practices and assign a certified renovator to all jobs to which the rule applies. To become certified, individual renovators must complete an eight-hour training taught by an EPA-certified instructor. This training is available through the Master Builders Career Connection.
